THE FIGHT

There are many types of the term “fight”
Kids fighting over toys
Nations against nations
Religion vs religion
Neighbour threatening neighbour
People protesting the government
Government fighting with the opposition
Husband arguing with wife
World War 1 and 2
Brother vs Sister
Boxer vs boxer
Boys after school at the ball diamond
There have been countless “fights” in this world
But the fight I will always remember is Mom’s fight against her Scleroderma
For 24 years Mom fought with SD
Some years “SD” would win, other years mom won
The fight was long and drawn out
A relentless battle with a foe that never rested or tired
The ultimate fight for your life
It took its toll on her body physically and mentally
We were ready to fight “SD” into 2019 with everything we had
In the end it wasn’t Mom or “SD” who won the war
Battles are won and lost by out flanking your enemy
Mom got out flanked in her fight for life
It came out of nowhere and took us by surprise
No time for goodbyes, no time to reminisce
Little chance to challenge it or prepare to fight it
When going into battle nervous armies looked to their leader
Generals lead men and women into battle with encouraging words and unwavering leadership
Other draw strength from the quiet, strong and determined warriors
That describes Mom, our HERO, and the ULTIMATE “FIGHTER.”
